Our initial goal was to understand our client’s needs and then come with up with a possible design to solve the issue at hand. This initial goals have been accomplished and now we are focusing on our more detailed goals. Our current goals are to test the final design in SolidWorks, order materials and begin working in the shop to fabricate our desk. The goal for lab this week is to begin doing some fabrication and work on our final presentation.
Now with our final design in the process of being drawn up, we must decide how much of each material we will need to order. Since we ordered a chair with a gas spring we should be able to finalize our design now. We are beginning the fabrication this Tuesday which may pose to be difficult as we experiment with our new wood passes. Also, as some of our team members work on the fabrication, there must be tasks for the other members to have a productive lab time.
We are still finalizing the exact measurements and calculations we need for the design. It seems we may need to have a couple test runs to specify exactly what our desk will look like.
Currently, we are bringing together the wood, metal, Plexiglas and paint that we will be utilizing. We do not possess all of the metal in which the gas spring pump will attach to, adding this to the expense list. So far, we know for sure that the chair we bought which we are getting the gas spring from cost $38.99. Some bolts and nuts costed us $2.87. We also may purchase wood finish and Plexiglas to give our desk a finished look and are still looking at out various options.
